Image Converter
Convert between PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP and ICO — instantly, in your browser. Your image never leaves your device.
Convert images without uploading them
Most online converters send your file to a server. Lumisphere doesn’t: the image is decoded and re-encoded by your own browser using the native Canvas API, so it never leaves your device. That makes it private, instant and free — with no sign-up and no limits.
- 1Add. Drop, paste or browse for an image (or several).
- 2Choose. Pick PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF — tune quality for the lossy ones.
- 3Download. Save the converted file, or the whole batch.
Want proof it stays private? Open your browser’s Network tab, convert an image and you’ll see zero uploads — it even works offline once loaded. Great for PNG to WebP, JPG to PNG, WebP to PNG or a PNG to ICO favicon. Need transparency instead? Try the background remover (no upload).
Good to know
Which format should I choose?
PNG is lossless and keeps transparency — best for logos, icons and screenshots. JPG is smallest for photographs but has no transparency. WebP gives you both: small files and transparency, supported everywhere modern. AVIF is the smallest of all, but newer. GIF suits flat graphics (up to 256 colours), BMP is uncompressed for editing, and ICO packages a favicon for your website.
Which files can I open?
Anything your browser can decode: PNG, JPG, GIF, WebP, AVIF, BMP, ICO and SVG. HEIC (iPhone), TIFF and camera-RAW can’t be read in the browser — convert those to JPG or PNG on your device first, then bring them here.
Is it really private?
Yes. The conversion happens entirely in your browser — there is no upload and nothing is stored on a server. You can even use it offline once the page has loaded.
Will converting reduce the quality?
Converting to PNG is lossless. JPG, WebP and AVIF are compressed — use the quality slider to balance size against sharpness. Note that re-saving a JPG as PNG can’t restore detail the JPG already discarded.
Why can’t I convert a HEIC photo?
Browsers can’t yet decode Apple’s HEIC/HEIF format on a canvas. On iPhone you can set Settings → Camera → Formats → Most Compatible to capture JPG, or export a JPG first, then convert it here.
