Choose JPG for a small, shareable photo; choose PNG if you need it lossless or with transparency. For everyday sharing and email, JPG is the lighter file.
What happens to transparency?
JPG can’t store it, so transparent areas are filled with the background colour you pick (white by default).
Will it lose quality?
JPG is lossy, so there’s some compression — at high quality it’s hard to notice. Use the Quality slider to balance size and sharpness.
